With countless awards from the likes of BAFTA and the Royal Television Society under her belt, Lucy Blakstad is one of the UK's most critically acclaimed documentary and commercials director. She has shot a wide variety of high profile commercial campaigns for clients such as First Direct (WCRS), Royal Bank of Scotland (M&C Saatchi), Visit Wales (Wielden & Kennedy), Dove's first 'real women' campaign (Ogilvy), and a cinema commercial shot in Liberia for Medecins Sans Frontieres.
Lucy has also directed many award-winning documentaries for the BBC, namely 'Lido', 'Flatmates' and 'Weekenders' as part of BBC2's Modern Times series, as well as the popular BBC1 series 'Naked', and a documentary about Cuban ballet dancer Carlos Acosta for BBC Arts, entitled 'Imagine'. Film Four commissioned Lucy to make 'The Birthday' in 2001; a short drama which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and was shortlisted for the Turner Classic Short Film competition in 2002.
