Japanese-American Karina Taira started working as a professional photographer at just 19, whilst studying at the Art Center College of Design in California. She moved to New York after graduating, shooting regularly for established magazines, agencies and clients. Her award-winning campaign for Diesel fragrance helped her develop her fashion and beauty portfolio, eventually attracting major brands such as Dior, Guerlain & L'Oreal. This impressive roster high-profile luxury clients quickly saw her in high demand in Paris.
It was in 1999 that she started directing commercials, two of which were almost immediately short-listed in the perfume category in Cannes. She has since directed dozens of campaigns for beauty and cosmetics brands such as Boucheron, Cerruti, Covergirl, Nivea and Cacharel, whilst also diversifying he reel with brands like Nestle, Alfa Romeo and Toyota. Karina splits her time between Paris and New York, but travels frequently, working as a photographer and director all over the world.
