JVT graduated from Columbia University Film School with an MFA in Film Directing and Writing, where he was the recipient of the prestigious Steven Kessler Award for Best Director. His work has since been selected for a wide number of international film festivals, including Toronto, Telluride, Chicago, Slamdance, Edinburgh, Seattle and Palm Springs, as well as for the BBC Short Film Awards and the Virgin Media Short Finals two years in a row.

Screen International named Jonathan 'Star of Tomorrow' and Creativity magazine was quick to recognise him as one of their top 10 up-and-coming directors. His recent work includes online episodes of E4's popular show 'Misfits', promotional spots for the BBC's Red Nose Day and he is currently directing the entire second series of Channel 4's TOP BOY.
